Ron Santo denied again!!!

I'm just the bearer of bad news today!!! (Okay, this actually happened yesterday, but I was too stunned and shocked to reply until now)

Ron Santo denied entry into Hall of Fame

Being elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee (the 64 living Hall of Famers) is the only way Santo is going to get into the Hall. He is more than eligible. He hit .277 with 342 home runs and 1,331 runs batted in, was a 9 (nine) time All-Star and won 5 (five) Gold Gloves with his defense at third base. It was a definite oversight that Ron Santo was denied his place in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

This was Ron Santo's reaction to his rejection by the Hall of Fame:

Santo reaction: 'It's ridiculous'

As Ron Santo said in the article, it's not just his exclusion from the Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee that is confusing - since it's inception, the Veteran's Committee has voted in 0 (ZERO!!) players. Personally, I think there is something flawed in the selection process and the current, living Hall of Famers (at least some) have no idea what they are doing. Just my opinion!!

This is the reaction of Ron Santo's teammates who are in the Hall of Fame (all of whom voted for Ron!):

Reaction of Santo's teammates in the Hall of Fame

Of course, Ferguson Jenkins, Billy Williams and Ernie Banks are biased towards their teammate, but they admit that Ron Santo was a Hall of Fame player.

It's all just discouraging and I thought it would be one bright spot for the Cubs after their quick exit from the playoffs in October. Wait 'til next year!!!!
