Big Z era over in Chicago...

AP source: Marlins acquires Zambrano from Cubs

Trade gives Zambrano another shot at happiness

Now, Ozzie Guillen has his wish, Zambrano on his team. No great loss for the Cubs, as he alienated most of his teammates anyway (well, what's left of his teammates) Of course, now Zambrano will probably turn things around, win a Cy Young award and lead the Marlins to the World Series. Oh, well :)

The Cubs get Chris Volstad in return, a 25 year old, who hasn't exactly torn up the league in his major league career. But he is five years younger than Zambrano, who has his share of history with the Cubs. The Cubs are picking up 15 to 16 million of the the 18 million Zambrano is making this year, so it is definitely a win for the Marlins, who are more than welcome to Zambrano's fits and outbursts.

The only hope is that Volstad can turn it around with a change of scenery, just as I hope Zambrano can.

On a related note:

Pitcher Chad Gaudin joins Marlins

If he makes the team, that would mean two former Cubs on the Miami Marlins (gosh, that name sounds terrible)
